Complex Trauma-Informed Affirmative Care for LGBTQ+ Youth

This module covers contributing factors that may negatively and positively impact the overall health and well-being of LGBTQ youth, including sociological-intersectionality-focused considerations to form a more nuanced understanding of the unique needs that LGBTQ+ youth have. The session includes practice-based recommendations regarding approaches that may be helpful when providing care to LGBTQ+ youth.

Learning objectives: (1.5 CE hours)
Participants who complete this module will be able to:

  1. Explain complex trauma considerations when working with LGBTQ+ youth.
  2. Identify core aspects of affirmative care for LGBTQ youth.
  3. Identify current strengths and areas of growth as it relates to affirmative care within their professional roles.
  4. Define terminology important to support affirmative care for LGBTQ+ youth.
  5. Identify several approaches and techniques to further support affirmative care within their professional roles.
