As a Peer Mentor, you agree to:
- Commit to being a mentor for one semester.
- Serve as a source of support and encouragement to new students as they adjust to graduate school.
- Initiate contact (once the Office of Student Success pairs you with a mentee).
- Be in contact twice a month via the best form of contact (e.g. Text, email, Marco Polo, FaceTime).
- Connect in-person (or virtually) at least twice per semester.
- Discuss expectations regarding mentorship at the beginning. I’ve received feedback that this is helpful to do!
- While you are a Student Mentor, you are not their academic advisor or counselor, so please encourage them to seek out other university resources to meet those needs (e.g. Counseling & Spiritual Direction Resource List on the Student Resource website).
