Level 1: “Bridging the Couple Chasm”
Gottman Couples Therapy: A New Research-Based Approach
Based on 40+ years of Dr. John Gottman’s research, this workshop offers students and clinicians
a scientifically-based roadmap to help couples manage conflict, build friendship, and support
each other’s dreams.
In this workshop students and clinicians learn:
• New research-based assessments and effective interventions to help understand couples’
• Research-based strategies and tools to help couples successfully manage conflict
• Skills that empower couples to dialogue about their worst gridlocked issues by
uncovering their underlying dreams, history, and values
• Methods to help couples process their fights and heal their hurts
• Techniques for couples to deepen their intimacy and minimize relapse
At the end of this training, you will have completed Gottman Level 1 Clinical Training, the first step toward becoming a Certified Gottman Therapist.

CE Administrative Fee: Each participant who wishes to receive Continuing Education (CE)
credits is responsible for sending their own printed exam along with an administrative fee
of $29.99 to PESI Inc., the company responsible for processing and distributing CEs.
Continuing Education Information: This activity is designed to qualify for continuing education for counselors, marriage and family therapists, and psychologists in every state. This self-study activity consists of 11.0 clock hours of continuing education instruction. Credit requirements and approvals vary per state board regulations. Please note, your state licensing board dictates whether self-study is an acceptable form of continuing education. Please refer to your state rules and regulations. Please save the course outline, the certificate of completion you receive from the activity and contact your state board or organization to determine specific filing requirements.
