Gottman Method Couples Therapy Level 2 University Outreach Program

Level 2 Clinical Training: Assessment, Intervention, and Co-Morbidities helps participants integrate and internalize Gottman assessments and interventions. Along with video lecture content from Drs. John and Julie Gottman, the UOP Level 2 training includes 5 hours of integrated group role-plays to practice interventions and opportunities to attend Q&A sessions with a highly trained Certified Gottman Therapist. After completing this video-based workshop, students and clinicians will be able to:

  • Assess a couple’s “Friendship Profile,” “Conflict Profile,” and “Shared Meanings Profile”
  • Develop interventions that couples can use as antidotes to the “Four Horsemen”
  • Help Couples to soothe physiological flooding
  • Apply six modes of changing the “Attack/Defend System” in a couple’s interactions
  • Assist couples in establishing dialogue about their “grid-locked” conflicts
  • Select and implement interventions to help couples deepen their “Friendship System” with rituals of connection
  • Select and implement interventions to help couples create a shared system of values and meaning
  • Identify five different co-morbidities common to couples using Gottman Assessments and Interventions

At the end of this training, you will have completed Gottman Level 2 Clinical Training, the second step toward becoming a Certified Gottman Therapist.

You also have the ability to purchase a physical copy of the manual for 50% off plus shipping directly from The Gottman Institute. Purchase of a physical manual is optional.

Continuing Education Information: This activity is designed to qualify for continuing education for counselors, marriage and family therapists, and psychologists in every state. This self-study activity consists of up to 19.0 clock hours of continuing education instruction; CE hours are available immediately after the successful completion of the assessment. Credit requirements and approvals vary per state board regulations. Please note, your state licensing board dictates whether self-study is an acceptable form of continuing education. Please refer to your state rules and regulations. Please save the course outline, the certificate of completion you receive from the activity and contact your state board or organization to determine specific filing requirements.
