Through interlibrary loan, the Richmont Libraries provide Richmont students and faculty with access to tens of millions of resources held by academic libraries worldwide. We understand that we are a small library with a limited acquisitions budget, so we make it our priority to respond every interlibrary loan request promptly, often filling requests within the same business day.
Please note that the Richmont Libraries will strive to comply with all relevant United States copyright law (Title 17, United States Code). The Richmont Libraries provide limited copies and scans of library resources for non-commercial purposes such as research, individual study, and pedagogy. The faculty and staff of the Richmont Libraries reserve the right to refuse any interlibrary loan request that, in our judgment, violates relevant copyright law.
You may submit requests directly in GALILEO or through our online form. For more information on how to request items in GALILEO, see our how-to guide here.
We fulfill requests for books, book chapters, journal articles, and audiovisual materials.
We are able to fulfill most (though not all) interlibrary loan requests within two business days. Note that requests for physical items, such as books or DVDs, may take several weeks to fulfill.
In certain rare cases, we may not be able to fulfill certain requests, due to copyright restrictions or a lack of availability.
The length of the lending period is determined by the lending institution. In most cases, the lending period is for 30 days.
Please note that the policy for renewal is determined by the lending institution. In most cases, students and faculty may renew a physical book one time for a single two-week period, though this may not always be possible.
Yes, should any borrowed materials become damaged or lost after you receive them, you will be responsible for any repair or replacement charges assessed by the lending library. Please take extra care not to lose or damage items received through interlibrary loan.
