My wife and I are both full time students at Richmont, parents of 4 girls and work full time. I can’t tell you how much the faculty and staff has embraced our family and made our journey enjoyable and enriching. The support at Richmont has been equal to that of a family. My children often say that they are helping us build our future.

Growing up, my family lived in an apartment housing community before moving into our home. My father was an international evangelist and my grandfather was a pastor of a small church within our community. As you might expect, everyone knew my father and grandfather. Their roles extended far beyond simply pastoring a church – they were pillars in the community. They visited the sick in the hospital and those who were in prison, whether they attended the church or not. They ministered and witnessed to people in the community and on many occasions shared our food and house with those who had no place to call home.

Watching the two of them naturally impacted my view of the world, my perception of others, and my thoughts on marriage. Working and traveling with them prepared me for my freshman year of college when I began to work with inner city youth in New York City.  This was the beginning of what would be 25 years of working in communities, churches, faith-based and civic organizations, and finding and developing educational resources for families. As a youth leader, I have since worked with and counseled thousands of individuals in the public school system and community programs. As a result of my work with adolescents, I have found that many of their struggles are often centered around their parent’s challenges in their family structure and personal relationships. This revelation has lead to my wife and I to spend the last 20 years mentoring and training many of the parents around us in building healthy relationships.

My first introduction to Richmont (then known as the Psychological Studies Institute), came through Dr. Margret Weaver. She insisted that I had to pursue a degree at Richmont! I started to pursue my degree here in 1997 but was not able to finish so now I’m back to finish my course work in marriage and family therapy! This time my wife is a student here, too! We hope to one day open our own practice, publish all of the material and books that we have been writing while continuing to develop others in this field. Ultimately, we hope that the resources we generate will glorify the Lord and assist individuals and couples in building healthy families.
